Well I'm personally thankful the Senate averted a 'showdown' if you will, because at least there is some protection of filibuster.

However, in other news the Koran story keeps building as the FBI apparently already knew about the Koran desecration allegations. Maybe Newsweek will finally just accept that their story was truthful.

Newsweek Allegations Supported by Red Cross

The Newsweek story that shocked the Muslim world could have some truth according to the Chicago Tribune. We all know that the big news started when Newsweek Magazine published an article stating that Korans were being desecrated at Guantanamo Bay. However the Red Cross recently stepped forward in support of Newsweek’s original story. Their people had collected much supporting evidence even though they had never witnessed the defilement of the Korans first-hand. Was George Bush turning a blind eye on the Red Cross’s information or was he seriously ignorant of what happened? In truth the White House has heard allegations from the Red Cross multiple times. This is merely another example of the secretive White House sweeping dust under the rug. This leaves me questioning how many more secrets the White House is keeping from the public.

Anti-Bust: In Filibuster We Trust

Ok, look an up-or-down vote is nice in theory, but minority rights, of both parties, are being protected by these filibusters. Frist says we must give these people the respect of yea or nay, but really if I were them I'd like a good haggle over me. Either way, these people are to become judges, at variant court levels, and they of all people should understand deliberation.

Either way though, the 'showdown' as all the newspapers are reporting seems imminent, so to counter Fristian thinking make sure to tell him your feelings. Why not call him at the Tennessee senators numbers below, provided by MoveOn.org, and then click here so you can let MoveOn know you've done your part.

Happy to retract?... or deny fact...

Newsweek has recently apologized for their toileted Koran story. But with stories being retracted, as a few have of late, one wonders whether the truth is being hidden, or news is too jumpy. Admittedly, this story caused riots and loss of lives overseas and thus it is tough to deal with, but if Korans were treated in such as fashion should we not know? Is our government so thoroughly secret? The answer is probably, but then again powerhouse news media has oft to fail us, so instead of indicting government or news specifically, I say both are to blame.
